Tuesday’s Child to Close After More Than 40 Years of Service
With deep gratitude for more than four decades of service, we share that Tuesday’s Child will be closing its doors later this fall. This decision was not made lightly, and we are profoundly thankful to every family, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who has been part of our story.
Over 40 years ago, Tuesday’s Child began its mission of helping families struggling with their toddler and preschool-aged child’s challenging behavior. At that time, early intervention and pre-kindergarten public education were new ideas, and the services we now take for granted were not widely available.
In the decades since, Tuesday’s Child has helped countless families nurture healthy social and emotional growth in their children and build a community of support and understanding. The practices we pioneered in the 1980s for early intervention are now widely adopted in public schools and are increasingly embraced by mental health practitioners.
As we close, we know families will continue to need support. We encourage parents seeking help to connect with the many excellent early childhood resources now available in Chicago, including:
We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who donated, volunteered, and supported this work over the years. Because you believed in our mission, the impact of Tuesday’s Child lives on in the lives of thousands of families.
Although Tuesday’s Child is coming to an end, the values, practices, and spirit we built together over four decades will continue to shape the field of early childhood for years to come, and most importantly, live on in the children and families we’ve had the privilege of serving.
With warm appreciation and deepest thanks,
The Board and Staff of Tuesday’s Child
