History: Tuesday's Child began as a family service component of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Evolving as a free-standing service organization in 1984, Tuesday's Child has 28 years of quality programming to families of children at risk of failure both at school and home.

Mission Statement: To help families establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with their children from the earliest stages, and to help children, especially those at risk for failure, to enter school ready to learn.

Program Descriptions:

Parent Training - An intensive behavior management program with emphasis on building strong relationships between family members.

The Child Center - Two site-based classrooms that teach an early learning social skills curriculum, focusing on school readiness skills (ie., following directions, time on task, socialization, etc.) with a 5 to 1 student/teacher ratio.

Familias Felices - A Spanish-language parent training program that targets low-income Spanish speaking families with children at risk of, or living with, special needs.

Birth to Three (Early Intervention) - Specialized onsite intervention of young children with diagnosed developmental delays such as speech, physical and social/emotional. Intensive, bilingual parent training is also provided.

Summer Camp- The camp provides the opportunity to experience field trips and camp settings while continuing to offer developmental intervention and behavior management.

Speech Therapy - A therapy program for young children (1-6) who are exhibiting signs of either speech or language delays.

Outreach - Collaborative services with other community agencies to bring our program to high risk populations in low-income areas.

Community Volunteer and Student Intern Program - Designed for students studying early education, special education, urban studies, sociology, social work, and psychology.  Individuals seeking an internship or volunteer opportunity should email a resume and cover letter to  Dr. Joanne Perpoli, Clinical Director at tc@tuesdayschildchicago.org
